Naoko Takashima migrated to Canada from Fukui city, countryside Japan. She arrived in Montréal, Québec knowing very little English and no French. Since her time in Canada she has struggled to learn two new languages, both being very different from Japanese.

In Japanese kokoro means heart, cœur. Sometimes human interaction is beyond language and connected more to the heart and feeling, rather than to language and speech.
