My dog Ginger is a mixed breed. Part Rottweiler, part Labrador, part Husky
and a bit of German Shepherd. We call her a Rottodorsky, and sheʼs typical
of not just the dogs in my neighborhood, but of the Canadians I know and
grew up with.
Iʼm part Danish, part French Canadian - a Danecois - and my wife if Jew-
ish, making my kids Danecoisish. I have many friends who are part-this,
part that, but call themselves Canadian, and this is what this little film is
about. So many of us are mutts, mixed breeds, Heinz 57ʼs, sidewalk spe-
cials.
